Ivan Shalev

Ivan Shalev joined the European Institute of Peace (EIP) in October 2014. He is the Senior Programme Manager for Conflict Justice and Reconciliation. The programme seeks to enhance the prospect that peace settlements last: it identifies the key rights-based issues for immediate attention in conflict contexts and constructs ways for peacemaking efforts to address them. The primary focus at the moment is on Syria, Yemen and Afghanistan.

For three years prior, he coordinated EIP’s preventive diplomacy projects in the Western Balkans, West/Central Africa and Eastern Europe. Before joining EIP, Ivan assisted civil society organizations with their human rights advocacy at the United Nations. He also worked with the Council of Europe in Strasbourg, with refugees and asylum seekers in Tunisia, and with minority communities in Kosovo.

Ivan holds an LL.M. in International Human Rights and Humanitarian Law from the University of Essex and a B.A. in International Relations and Political Science from Tufts University.
