Colombia Field Coordinator (with a focus on gender and inclusion) (consultancy contract)

We are looking for a Colombia Field Coordinator with substantial experience and expertise on gender and inclusion to support the Engagement, Dialogue and Process Design (EDP) Unit. The Colombia Field Coordinator will report to the EDP Unit Director, the Colombia/Venezuela team leader and the Colombia/Venezuela team coordinator. The selected candidate will be based in Colombia.

Duties and responsibilities
- Operationally and logistically coordinate the Institute’s activities in the field, particularly those taking place in Colombia’s conflict affected regions;
- Ensure the overall integration of gender-sensitive perspectives during the implementation of the Institute’s programme in Colombia, and across all outputs delivered to donors, partners, and stakeholders promoting peace efforts in the country;
- Draft a comprehensive report on active civil society initiatives and networks in Colombia, in particular those that incorporate a gender perspective;
- Assist in the identification, development and implementation of gender-sensitive confidence-building measures involving local civil society organisations and conflict parties in Colombia;
- In coordination with the Institute’s Gender and Peacemaking (GPM) team based in Brussels:
- Ensure the alignment and coherence of the Colombia programme outputs with the Institute’s GPM strategy;
- Enhance the visibility and participation of Colombian women from conflict-affected regions in international dialogue settings.
- Ensure fluid communications between all the actors, particularly local partners, involved in the implementation of the Institute’s programme in Colombia;
- Ensure effective engagement with local civil society organisations, particularly women’s groups, in Colombia’s conflict-affected regions;
- Support the organisation of in-person and/or online meetings, seminars or roundtables from the field, with a special focus on logistically facilitating the active participation of local civil society organisations and women’s groups from conflict-affected regions;
- Support the Institute in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with key stakeholders, the international community with presence in Colombia and (potential) donors, particularly those seeking to strengthen the role of women in promoting peace efforts at the local level;
- Support the organisation of visits of the Institute’s advisors and Brussels-based staff to Colombia;
- Other tasks requested by the Institute’s EDP Unit Director, the Colombia/Venezuela team leader and the Colombia/Venezuela programme coordinator.
Profile
- Advanced university degree in political science, international relations, gender studies or a related field;
- Minimum 5 years of work experience in the fields of conflict resolution, peacebuilding and/or human rights with a gender component;
- Experience working in Colombia, particularly in conflict-affected regions, and strong knowledge of the Colombian peace process and current socio-political context are required;
- Experience working with INGOs, Colombian women’s groups and grassroots civil society organisations with a gender-sensitive perspective, including a solid network of relevant contacts;
- Experience working in Venezuela, knowledge of the Venezuelan socio-political context and the derived regional dynamics (cross-border violence, migration flows, etc.) is a strong asset;
- Experience in managing logistics and security in recovering or fragile contexts;
- Perfect command of Spanish (written and spoken) and working proficiency in English (written and spoken) are required;
- Willingness to be based in Colombia and to conduct travel within the country and the region as required;
- Ability to work independently, with meticulous attention to detail and as part of a small team.
The Institute offers
- Consultancy contract for a maximum of 160 days starting as soon as possible and ending on 31 August 2022.
