Asma Ben Salem

Asma Ben Salem joined the European Institute of Peace as a Programme Assistant for the Middle East and Gulf in September 2025. In her role, she supports the coordination and implementation of peacebuilding programmes, with a particular focus on the Gulf and Yemen.
Prior to joining the Institute, Asma worked on EU-funded projects, academic research initiatives, and fundraising efforts with organisations in Europe and the Middle East. Her experience includes supporting project development and implementation, coordinating international workshops, and conducting research on conflict, youth, governance, and education in the MENA region.
Asma has a background in Middle Eastern studies, with a focus on the contemporary politics and societies of the region. She speaks Italian, Arabic (Modern Standard Arabic and different Arabic dialects spoken across the region), French, English, and has basic knowledge of German.
