Nicholas Jones OBE joined the European Institute of Peace in September 2025 as a Senior Adviser on the Middle East for the Engagement, Dialogue and Process Design Unit. Before joining the Institute, he was a UK diplomat and Civil Servant for nearly 20 years, with extensive experience working on Middle East policy and analysis, conflict issues and complex negotiations. He worked on the Middle East across roles in the Foreign Office and the Cabinet Office, and in 2016 he was awarded an OBE for his role in negotiating the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (the Iran nuclear deal). Nicholas holds a Master’s degree in International Conflict Analysis from the University of Kent.
