Hilde Vautmans

Hilde Vautmans is a senior Member of the European Parliament. She serves as a Member of the Committees on Foreign Affairs and Development. She is the Foreign Affairs Coordinator for the Renew Europe Group, a Member of the Delegation for relations with the United States, Standing China rapporteur and the Chair of the Africa Delegation.

Previously, Hilde served from 2003 to 2010 as a Member of the Belgian Federal Parliament, where she chaired the Committee on Foreign Affairs and led the Liberal Parliamentary Group. Before that, she worked as an advisor in the private office of the Belgian Prime Minister. She also held several mandates in local government.

Her parliamentary work emphasises transatlantic cooperation, European security and defence policy. She has been actively involved in drafting the European Parliament’s work programme on foreign policy and reporting on key instruments such as the European Peace Facility and the EU’s external action
