Our people

Matthias Moerk joined the European Institute of Peace as an Intern in September 2026. He works with the Institute’s Asia and Eastern Neighbourhood programmes, focusing on Afghanistan and China, as well as Ukraine, Moldova and the Western Balkans.

Prior to joining the Institute, Matthias worked as a Student Consultant at the Austrian Business Agency, supporting American and European investors. He also worked for the Federal Economic Chamber of Austria in the Philippines and for the Austrian Society for Foreign Policy and United Nations.

Matthias holds a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from the University of Vienna and is pursuing a degree in Business Law at the Vienna University of Economics and Business. He also completed a one-year diploma programme in International Relations at the Austrian Society for Foreign Policy and the United Nations.
