Our people

Matthias Gemeiner joined the European Institute of Peace in September 2026 as a Fundraising and Communications Intern within the Executive Director’s office.

Before joining the Institute, Matthias worked in fundraising and project management at Make.org Foundation, the Amman Center for Human Rights Studies and Caritas Morocco, and in multilateral diplomacy at the Permanent Mission of Austria to the United Nations in Geneva.

Matthias holds a Master’s degree in International Governance and Diplomacy from Sciences Po Paris, with a specialisation in human rights. He also completed a Dual Bachelor’s Degree in Political and Social Sciences from Sciences Po Paris and the Freie Universität Berlin. His Bachelor thesis explored the influence of Chinese development finance on African states’ voting behaviour in the United Nations Human Rights Council.

Matthias is fluent in French, German, English and has solid knowledge of Spanish and Arabic.
