Albert Charara

Albert Charara is a programme officer at the European Institute of Peace. He coordinates the Institute’s projects in Latin America while supporting the broader efforts of the Early Assessment and Action envelope at the Engagement, Dialogue and Process Design (EDP) unit.

Before joining the Institute in October 2019, Albert worked for two years (2017-2018) at the Amsterdam-based Dialogue Advisory Group (DAG), contributing to the success of political dialogue efforts in Iraq and the Basque Country – where he assisted the International Verification Commission (IVC) in its mission to facilitate and verify the disarmament of ETA. He has also worked for the Directorate of International Relations of the Barcelona Provincial Council (DIBA), advising local governments on the strategic planning of their development cooperation policies, and interned at the Barcelona Centre for International Affairs (CIDOB) while finishing his BA.

Albert holds a MA in Conflict Studies and Human Rights from Utrecht University and a BA in Political Science and Public Management from the Autonomous University of Barcelona. He speaks Spanish, Catalan, English and is studying French.
