Alejandra Tapia Basanta

Alejandra Tapia Basanta is a Programme Assistant at the European Institute of Peace, where she first joined as a Trainee in 2024.

She supports the planning, coordination, and monitoring of regional initiatives that promote peace, inclusion, and local leadership.

Before joining the Institute, Alejandra worked with peacebuilding and research organisations, contributing to projects on conflict transformation, social cohesion, and community engagement. She has gained international experience across Europe and the MENA region, working at the intersection of programme coordination, research, and communications. Her academic work explores lived experience, decolonisation of knowledge production and collective memory within minority Christian communities in the Middle East.

Alejandra holds an MA in Middle East Politics and Arabic, and a BA in Politics, Philosophy and Economics, both from the University of Exeter, UK. She speaks Spanish, English and Arabic.
