Luca Nevola
Luca Nevola is Regional Advisor to the Yemen team with longstanding expertise in northern Yemeni politics. Prior to joining the Institute, Luca conducted fieldwork in northern Yemen, between 2009 and 2013. His research focused on Yemen’s minority groups and tribal dynamics. Since 2018, he worked as research fellow at the University of Sussex, exploring the relationship between political elites and violence in Northern Yemen. Since 2020, he has worked as conflict analyst for several organizations, including ACAPS and the Yemen Support Fund. Luca is currently Middle East Regional Specialist at the Armed Conflict Location & Event Data Project (ACLED), overseeing analysis for the Yemen Conflict Observatory. He holds a Master of Arts and a Ph.D. in Cultural Anthropology from the University of Milano-Bicocca and speaks four languages, including standard Arabic and northern Yemeni dialects.
