Marie Forestier

Marie Forestier joined the European Institute of Peace (EIP) as Senior Advisor in January 2023. 

She is a policy analyst and a researcher with over a decade experience in conflict-affected countries in the Middle East, Central Asia and Africa. 

Marie was previously a researcher and advisor on refugee rights in the Middle East region at Amnesty International. 

In her previous work with international organisations and NGOs, Marie researched human rights issues, the gender impact of counter-terrorism policies in Syria and in Iraq, and developed gender analyses and policy recommendations in order to increase women’s participation in peace processes in Syria and in Yemen.  

Marie was a visiting fellow at the Center for Women Peace and Security of the London School of Economics in 2016, focusing on sexual violence against Syrian women. 

Marie started her career as a foreign correspondent for French televisions based in Afghanistan and in Turkey.  Marie holds a Master’s degree in International Affairs from Sciences Po Paris and is a graduate of Columbia University Journalism School.
