Sofie Honing
Sofie Honing is currently a Fundraising Assistant and Programme Assistant for the Climate and Environmental Peacemaking Programme, working on the project in Somalia. She joined the European Institute of Peace in May 2024 as a Fundraising Trainee.
Prior to that, she worked as a Junior Research Assistant at UNICEF’s East Asia and Pacific Regional Office in Bangkok, where she supported the private and public fundraising and partnerships teams. In this role, she contributed to donor mappings and partnership engagement plans.
Sofie holds a Master’s degree in International Relations from the Institut Barcelona d’Estudis Internacionals (IBEI), with a specialization in Conflict and Violence in Global Politics. Her dissertation examined the use of the term “genocide” by Rohingya activists in framing the crisis in Myanmar. She also holds a Bachelor’s degree in Arts and Culture, specializing in Political Culture, from Maastricht University.
She speaks Dutch, English, Catalan, and French.
