Third Convening of the Southern Dialogue Process in Yemen

21/02/2025

This document was produced as part of an ongoing dialogue project facilitated by the European Institute of Peace to foster trust and convergence between political components in Southern Yemen and to support the efforts of the UN Special Envoy for Yemen.

The European Institute of Peace facilitated the third multiparty convening of the Southern Dialogue Process in Yemen in Amman, the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, on 19–20 February 2025. The convening took place after the Third Yemen International Forum (16–18 February), at which the Institute’s dialogue members participated.

The consultations of the third multiparty dialogue convening took place in a brainstorming environment, where the situation in Yemen in general and in the southern governorates in particular were reviewed. Participants discussed their visions on how to address Yemen’s Southern Question, methods for involving southern Yemeni women and youth in the dialogue, as well as practical and impactful outcomes that could result from the dialogue. Additionally, topics proposed for inclusion in the agenda of the next round of dialogue were elaborated.

The Southern Dialogue group held several meetings on the sidelines of the Yemen International Forum, including with the U.S. Ambassador to Yemen, H.E. Steven Fagin, and the Dutch Ambassador to Yemen, H.E. Jeannette Seppen.
